PASS (Professional Association for SQL Server), the world’s premier learning and support community for SQL Server folk, is holding elections for three new board member seats beginning this week. Dell is proud that our own Richard Douglas, a SQL Server consultant who supports all of our core SQL Server products, is eligible to run for both the regional EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) seat and the open seat. Richard is also editor in chief for the SQL Server section of ToadWorld and a fountain of practical wisdom for SQL Server pros who want to expand their knowledge, maximize their performance, and cultivate their careers as IT pros: the many useful webcasts, tutorial videos, white papers and blog posts he has authored and presented are testament to this. But it’s about more than what Richard does under Dell’s roof: He’s a passionate player in the global SQL Server community, a highly certified expert who is generous with his knowledge and energy. He served as editor in chief for SQLServerpedia.com (now ToadWorld), a technical reviewer for two Microsoft SQL Server 2012 books, and still somehow finds the time to run a PASS chapter in the UK in addition to serving on the organizing committee for SQLRelay and SQL Saturday Cambridge. His blog is a showcase of not only his commitment to community, but a wealth of hands-on guidance resources, conversations with leading practitioners, and more. Richard has also been tapped to deliver two presentations at the upcoming PASS Summit in Charlotte, NC from Oct. 15-18 and at both European SQL Rally events this November. With the official slate of candidates now announced and campaigning beginning today, PASS members have the opportunity to follow the action via Twitter chats (#passvotes, #sqlpass) and attend live webcast “Town Hall Meetings” so you can hear why the candidates are running and ask them questions. Ballots will be sent to all PASS members in good standing as of  June 13 th ; we encourage all members of the PASS community to review all the candidates and take part in the direction of this indispensable organization. Voting runs from Sept. 26-30. And, of course, we wish the best of luck to Richard and all the other candidates.
